The New Palax D460 – speed and flexibility for logs of varying sizes

The Palax D460 is a firewood processor with a chainsaw that enhances efficiency and flexibility in firewood production. It is an updated version of the popular Palax KS 45s and is suitable for logs of varying sizes, cutting them from a diameter of 6 cm up to 46 cm with its 20-inch chainsaw.

The fully hydraulic joystick control makes operation effortless. The log clamp and dropping plate guide the logs precisely to the splitting blade, and the automatic splitting ensures uninterrupted production. The intelligent PowerSpeed splitting automatically detects the required splitting force and speed, speeding up the work cycle by up to 30%. Additionally, the upgraded hydraulic system provides the machine with 25% more speed compared to its predecessor, enabling a cycle time of just 3.2 seconds.

Standard features of the D460 include an additional in-feed roller, which facilitates the movement of logs from the log deck to the in-feed conveyor, and an oil cooler, which ensures reliable hydraulic system performance even in hot conditions.

“Our customers had requested a larger maximum diameter and more speed. Now we’ve been able to meet both requests”, says Product Engineer Marko Sippola.
